It's all about me...and my favorite things like the Monkees! |
Of course, my name is not really Auntie Grizelda. For those of you that are die-hard Monkees fans, will know that is the title of a really bad track the band recorded that featured Peter Tork on lead vocals. But I needed a pseudonym and Auntie Grizelda seemed like a good one, especially since I love my Monkee men so much.
I hail from Queens and currently a TOS (Teacher on Sabbatical) or LOL (Lady of
Leisure) and thrilled for the extra time in my PJ's and getting to enjoy my
extra cup of coffee while watching the 2nd and 3rd hours of the Today Show
(even though Kathie Lee gets on my nerves. Nobody is really that perky). My
teaching motto has always been, "It's nice to be important but it's more
important to be nice." Gotta love it when former students tell you that
your class was so much FUN and they thank you for exposing them to cool music &
pop culture while giving them the chance to be themselves, think for themselves and think
"outside the box." After working more than 20 years at the New York
City Department of Education (NYCDOE), loving these precious extra moments with
my hubby and 4 kitties while working on becoming a better teacher and human
being by taking care of ME!

This is a picture of one of my four kitties, Mr. Hakuna Matata (not his real name, either)--my beloved 20 pound orange tabby, doing one of the things he does best. |
Going to college, volunteering at a NYC museum and with a couple of local animal rescue groups,
working out at the gym nearly everyday, catching up on my reading and
attempting to heed Carole King's advice when she reminded us in the song,
"Beautiful," to "Get up every morning with a smile on your face
and show the world all the love in your heart." Feeling pretty groovy
right now but check back again with me in the fall!
